1. Forgive Yourself

Okay. It happened. And you're here looking at it, so you are healing it. Believe it or not, you are. This is very very good! This is a necessary part of the process. I know. It's not fun, but you are on your way to freedom because you're not denying it anymore...this is sooo good! So number one most important thing you can do right now is be compassionate to yourself. You needed this, whether you like it or not.

2. Reflect

Why did you need this? You may not be able to answer this question yet, but keep looking for the answer. Check in with yourself, meditate, listen deeply and see what answers come. The answer will come.

3. Find Support

Talk to someone, someone understanding. Tell this person what happened. This is not something to be ashamed of. You're not alone. There is such freedom in opening up and letting go of the shame. The more you do this, the more you'll see there's no reason to feel shame.

4. Get back on the wagon. Now!

Don't try to make up for the binge. If you do that, you will inevitably be back here again. If you go back to eating only when you're hungry and what your body desires, you will unquestionably continue making forward progress. This may well be the last one! You don't know. All I can guarantee you is that if you go back to your restrictive behaviors or purging, you will definitely be back here again. What's worth it?

*I'll add, this is probably the very hardest step in the whole healing process because you're facing one of your biggest fears: getting fat. I admit, I gained a little bit of weight when I was in this process, BUT, now that I no longer binge, I am wayyy fitter and so much healthier and I truly eat whatever the fuck I want. This is the most important step on your way to true freedom. Are you ready? Is it worth it? Only you can answer that...*

5. Reward Yourself

Take care of yourself today. Do something that has nothing to do with food, something that brings you joy. I don't care what it is. Something fun, something weird, something you wouldn't necessarily do otherwise. Get a massage, go for a walk, check out an experimental art exhibit, whatever. Find something, do it, treat yourself. You are worth it! This is super important. Rather than punishing yourself for binging, reward yourself. You are working through it. You are looking at it. This is your process. Go you!
